About Stripe Connect
How Simply Link processes payments securely through Stripe.
What is Stripe Connect?
Simply Link uses Stripe Connect to power secure payment processing. Stripe is a leading global payments company trusted by millions of businesses, from startups to Fortune 500 companies.
When you connect your account to Simply Link, Stripe creates a "Connected Account" for you. This allows you to accept card payments from your customers, with funds paid directly to your bank account.
How Payments Work
Simply Link uses a "Direct Charges" model. This means:
- Payments go directly to your Stripe account – not through Simply Link.
- You are the merchant of record – your business name appears on customer card statements.
- Payouts follow Stripe's schedule – typically 2-7 business days depending on your account.
- Simply Link never sees or stores card details – all sensitive payment data is handled by Stripe.
Understanding Fees
There are two types of fees when processing payments:
1. Stripe Processing Fees
Stripe charges processing fees on each successful payment. These fees are set by Stripe and deducted automatically from each transaction. Stripe's fee structure varies by card type and region. Simply Link does not control Stripe's pricing.
2. Simply Link Platform Fee
Depending on your plan:
- Free tier: 1% per transaction
- Pro tier (£19/month): 0% per transaction
Refunds
As the merchant of record, you are responsible for your own refund policy. When you need to issue a refund:
- • Full refunds can be processed through Simply Link's platform.
- • Partial refunds must be issued directly through your Stripe Dashboard.
- • Stripe does not refund their processing fees on refunded transactions.
Security
Stripe is a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor – the highest level of security certification. This means:
- • All card data is encrypted and securely stored by Stripe.
- • Simply Link never has access to your customers' card numbers.
- • Stripe's fraud detection helps protect against fraudulent transactions.
